Ongoing use of enslaved ancestors’ images constitutes continuing harm to descendants

Evidence

I wanted to be clear: A terrible thing happened to Renty and Delia when Agassiz commissioned those images. Harvard employed Agassiz at the time, and so supported him in his research and work—and they continue, to this day, to profit off that plunder. Renty and Delia were brutalized in that moment—and are still being victimized and terrorized every time their likenesses are used by Harvard. As was I, their descendant whom Harvard refused to acknowledge. — Tamara Lanier, From These Roots, 687
