Northern parliamentarians’ distrust of Egal dissolved their sense of a single constituency.
Evidence
Ismail Nahar, who was a senior businessman from the North, reported that one day the Northern parliamentarians met in Afgoi and demanded that Egal inform them about what was going on and why he was not leading the charge on their behalf. Egal is reported to have been so upset that he left the meeting, and there ended the presumption that the Northern members formed a single constituency. — Abdi Ismail Samatar, Africa’s First Democrats, 1336
