Nobody had accurately filmed computer culture before The Social Network
Evidence
Facebook executives were less amused. The company was progressing toward its initial public offering, and the leadership team was nervous about scrutiny over the site’s messy origins. Top Facebook executives Sheryl Sandberg and Elliot Schrage asked to view an early cut of the film. They hated it. When their suggested edits were rejected, they convinced themselves it would flop, another “failed attempt to bottle a generation.” To their credit, no one had made a particularly accurate movie about computers or the internet, as evidenced by 1995’s The Net and Hackers. — W.
