No documented case exists of wild buffalo transmitting brucellosis to cattle
Evidence
The fear that the buffalo would infect cattle with brucellosis is said to be the driving force in the Yellowstone buffalo kill. However, there has never been a single documented case of transmission of brucellosis from wild buffalo to cattle, including the 40 years that buffalo and cattle grazed side by side in Wyoming. Plus, the much larger Yellowstone elk herd, which numbers over 200,000 by many estimates, is known to be widely infected with brucellosis, but has not been the subject of a public slaughter (except by the lucrative hunting industry). β Winona LaDuke, All Our Relations, 759
