Neumann’s social theory descended from Sinzheimer and Austrian Marxism, not Horkheimer’s circle
Evidence
During his legal training as an articled clerk in Frankfurt, he worked with the Social Democrat Hugo Sinzheimer, who was the founder of German employment law and one of the fathers of the Weimar constitution. Neumann, influenced mainly by Sinzheimer and by the Austrian Marxists Karl Renner and Otto Bauer, supported Social Democratic reformism, and published articles on topics in employment law. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 245
