Neoliberalism redefined human being itself as human capital.
Evidence
Since the last quarter of the twentieth century, economic restructuring in the anglophone world, and especially the United Kingdom and United States, has sculpted every aspect of social life to the model of market competition, blazing new frontiers in reconceiving human being as human capital. This has involved channeling wealth upward by defunding public institutions, slashing corporate and upper-income-bracket tax rates, promoting corporate welfare and corporate personhood above public well-being, responsibilization—making individuals and families bear the costs of social reproduction like education and health care—and commodifying the commons and the body. — Anna Kornbluh, Immediacy, or The Style of Too Late…, 134
