Nearly all US history teachers rely on district-provided textbooks

Evidence

In 2002, the State Department of Education published a document showing that 74 percent of teachers use textbooks provided to them by their school district to aid in teaching lessons. This number was drastically higher when it came to the social studies or history classes. In this case, 94 percent of teachers used the provided history textbook as the main source of knowledge for their lessons. — James D. Kirylo (ed.), Reinventing Pedagogy of the Oppressed, 596
