Nation of Islam doctrine inverted Christian white supremacy into Black racial superiority
Evidence
NOI founder Fard Muhammad claimed to be Allah incarnate; and Elijah Muhammad, Fard Muhammad’s disciple, was Allah’s messenger. They offered African Americans who migrated to Chicago from the South an alternative identity wherein they were racially superior to Whites. According to the NOI, White people were devils engineered by an evil scientist. Christianity, thus, was the religion of White oppressors used to indoctrinate African Americans to accept their inferior status. Taking from the UNIA’s message, the NOI taught its members self-help and promoted a racially uplifting message that emphasized Black solidarity, Black capitalism, and racial separatism. — Sahar F.
