Multi-screen collage could produce overwhelming then tender emotional effects

Evidence

The number of actors on the screen at any time, the constant haunting images of mass suffering; a peace demonstration from Guns coincided with one of the shake-ups in The Brig while The Mothers of Invention poured out their agonies over the sound system. A weird, fragmented, but pervasive image of multiple horror and perception flooded the auditorium. But the whole thing had evaporated in minutes, to be replaced by a ballet of loving sympathy and tenderness. — J. Hoberman, Everything Is Now, 966
