Morisco resistance shifted from Granada’s mountains to Valencia and Aragon
Evidence
Up to that point in the late history of the Muslims in Spain, the heartland of resistance had been in Granada: not the city, but the mountains of the kingdom of that name, especially the Alpujarras. From 1571 onward, after the completion of the expulsions from Granada, the only remaining substantial concentrations of Muslim population with a surviving effective leadership were in the east of the peninsula, in Valencia and in Aragon (the Levante, in Hispanic terms). — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 1572
