Mobile killing units assembled, stripped, and shot entire Jewish communities by the ditch

Evidence

Another example involves the actions of an Einsatzgruppe, or mobile kill ing unit, in operation in the town of Uman, in the Ukraine. A German army officer described how the Jews of the area were gathered near the airport and surrounded by SS men and other militia. The Jews were ordered to undress, hand over everything they owned, and stand in a line in front of a ditch. They were then shot and thrown into the ditch. The observer stated that no one was overlooked. — Leonard S. Newman and Ralph Erber (eds.), Understanding Genocide, 631
