Milgram’s family still had relatives in wartime Europe

Evidence

This concern about the suffering of his fellow Jews at the hands of the Nazis can be traced to Milgram’s childhood. Milgram was born in the Bronx, New York, on August 15, 1933. His parents, Samuel and Adele Milgram, were both born in Eastern Europe. Samuel had emigrated from Hungary after World War I, while Adele was born in Romania and came to the United States be fore World War I. During World War II, Samuel still had relatives remaining in Europe, and Stanley was very conscious of his father’s concerns about them. — Leonard S.
