Medieval Christians read Islamic revelation as a divine warrant for worldly war

Evidence

Tripoli spoke of convincing Muslims that the Christian faith was the only praeceptum given to believers; this implies its contrary and that Islam claimed that the revelation given to Muhammad was such a praeceptum (cap. Li). The word was also used to express a divine command to execute a particular enterprise (or, in the mediaeval view, a claim to revelation, in order to justify a shady enterprise), e.g. a praeceptum trom God to wage war under pretext of spreading religion.
