Manji’s history denies that US policy created Taliban conditions
Evidence
To historicize, and to suggest for example that U.S. support for the Taliban effectively destroyed any moderate opposition in Afghanistan, is to blame the United States unfairly. Muslims, Manji declares, have to start being self critical, and the first step they must take is to acknowledge that ‘being self-critical means coming clear about the nasty side of the Koran, and how it informs terrorism.’ Outraged that the Muslims she meets have refused to acknowledge any complicity for the events of 9/11, Manji is insistent that we recognize that Osama bin Laden is ‘scripturally supported.’ — Sherene Razack, Casting Out, 233
