Mainstream scholars across all modern fields share an identical inner intellectual structure.
Evidence
Orientalism as a body of discourse is no different from any other field in modern academia, except that it happened to owe its formal existence to the fact of its specialization. Just as economics or business or engineering or English literature have their specialization in the cultivation of knowledge about their respective fields, Orientalism cultivates its knowledge with an exclusive regard to the “Orient.” But the inner structure of the intellectual attitudes of an ordinary, typical, and mainstream economist is identical to that of his Orientalist, historian, anthropologist, scientist, or business-school counterpart. — Wael Hallaq, Restating Orientalism, 359
