Mainstream media on both continents refused to label Brazil’s impeachment a coup
Evidence
In general, the mainstream (center-right) Brazilian media portrayed anyone using the word in reference to the impeachment campaign as a diehard supporter of the government. International media largely did the same. No prominent foreign publication called this a “coup,” and at least one journalist was called in by management for social media posts that allegedly indicated sympathy for the president. — Vincent Bevins, If We Burn, 656
