Luther’s translation of kenosis founded the Hegelian dialectic’s technical vocabulary.

Evidence

By translating kenosis by EntĂ€ußerung (‘the separation of the Self through an externalization’), Luther designates a sort of exit outside one’s self in one’s self, a farewell to one’s self, an abandonment of one’s self. A taking leave of one’s self in one’s self. And most of all he opens the way for a tradition in which the Hegelian dialectic inscribes itself (originary division of judgement, alienation, exteriorization, exit of God outside of himself: Entzweiung, Entfremdung, EntĂ€ußerung) and out of which the great modern discourse on the ‘death of God’ would lose its meaning and its memory. — Catherine Malabou, The Future of Hegel, 151
