Listeners can distinguish loudspeaker resonances from instrument resonances
Evidence
It appears that some sound quality aspects of recordings “translated” very well indeed. In multiple-loudspeaker comparison evaluations listeners reliably separated the unwanted resonances in loudspeakers from the desirable ones in musical instruments and voices, all within the reflected sound fields of several different “typical” domestic listening rooms. — Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics and…, 1959

- QUESTION: What acoustic/psychoacoustic cues let the ear separate loudspeaker resonances from instrument resonances within the same reflected field? Worth chasing for the mechanism.
