Intrinsic religion suppresses only overt prejudice, not covert forms.

Evidence

In this research, the relation between the extrinsic, means dimension and overt prejudice is inconsistent, but the relation between this dimension and covert prejudice is clearer. It tends to be positive. The relation between the intrinsic, end dimension and overt prejudice tends to be negative, but the relation between this dimension and covert prejudice tends to be positive. Only the quest dimension has shown a pattern suggesting a negative relation with covert prejudice (see Batson et al., 1993, pp. 324–9, for a review of 43 findings from 11 studies – also see Batson, Eidelman, Higley, & Russell, 2001; Batson, Floyd, Meyer, & Winner, 1999; and Goldfried & Miner, 2002). — , Rudman, Laurie A - On the Nature of…, 2551
