Interpreters still contest additions to Tilden’s six principles

Evidence

Tilden’s statement of principles has inspired scores of others to expound on his fundamental concepts, his words, his thoughts, and his philosophy. As an instructor at the Mather Training Center in Harpers Ferry, I well remember the discussions and at times heated arguments we had in class when course participants speculated on what should be Tilden’s “seventh” principle. — Freeman Tilden, Interpreting Our Heritage, 83
