Integer-multiple harmonics of a fundamental can generate a full scale

Evidence

The third partial of 100 Hz is 300 Hz; divide by 2 and we again have the perfect fifth at 150 Hz. Good start. The formula, if we are to use the first note as a “generator” of the whole scale, is integer multiples of 100, divided by a power of 2 to bring them into the first octave: The fourth partial again just gives the octave; fifth partial gives a ratio of 5:4 (n = 5; m = 2), or 125 Hz, a perfect major third-not a bad idea. — Eric J.
