Instrument wall material barely affects the tone a player hears
Evidence
The debate and misinformation about materials and wind instruments has been going on a long time. The effect of material on the timbre of a flute cannot be zero, but it is almost certainly undetectable by the ear. Trumpets were tested before and after cryo-treatment with sophisticated impedance measurements; no difference could be found. β Eric J. Heller, Why You Hear What You Hear- Anβ¦, 1584

- CANDY: Gold flutes and cryo-treated trumpets are marketed on tone benefits that impedance measurements show are inaudible β a fun anti-snobbery fact for musicians.
