Influencer LLCs make the person serve as representative of a corporation exceeding them.
Evidence
In the Corpocene we see, on one hand, the collapse of labor power and identity and, on the other, the collapse of subjectivity and the vertically integrated conglomerate. These two conflations, in which self and business are confused and intertwined, should be understood as both a grounding of the possibilities of class on the internet and an obstacle preventing many possible directions for class struggle and organization. When we see Jeffree Star and Jimmy Donaldson organize themselves through LLCs in which they serve as representatives of a corporation but also act as if they are the corporation, we can see the logic of the Corpocene at work. These are not “businesses” following a “sole proprietorship” model, in which Star or Donaldson is, as an individual, legally culpable for all risk, debts, and liabilities that exist under their names. Jeffree Star LLC, simultaneously is Star and completely exceeds him, a corporate “person” that both is and is not reducible to Star as a “natural” person. All of Kim Kardashian’s business dealings follow a similar logic. Skims both is Kardashian (even including her name—Kim—in its name) and yet cannot be reduced to her. The corporation is the person, yet the corporation exceeds the person, mitigating risk, insulating the person that the corporation comes to represent. — Grant Bollmer, Katherine Guinness, The Influencer Factory, 388
