Incoming Christians’ pig-farming practices provoked communal violence in Motril

Evidence

Sacred violence is that expressed for no reason other than to extend and protect the sacralized community. Such violence becomes itself as much the sacral condition as the community itself (in this context, the racially ordained nation-state). Often, the condition of sacralization overshadows the interests of community members, supposed spiritual wellbeing trumping other valued considerations. But conceived so nebulously and more or less indiscriminately, sooner or later such violence is likely to redound, kicking off reciprocal cycles of vengeant violence. — David Theo Goldberg, The Threat of Race, 1834 (#complicates, via linked claim)
