Horkheimer and Adorno systematically deleted explicit Marxist categories when publishing.
Evidence
When preparing the mimeographed text of that book for publication by Querido, Horkheimer and Adorno had, after all, concentrated on eliminating every formulation that explicitly mentioned capitalism, monopolism and class society. They continued this practice in works that were later republished in the Federal Republic, taking into account, moreover, the apparent West German economic miracle. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 569
