Hispanic people are vastly underrepresented among California prosecutors.

Evidence

In California, Hispanic individuals comprise almost 39 percent of the population, but only 9 percent of the prosecutors (Bies, Long, McKoy, Threatt, & Wolf, 2016). Other states are likely no better in terms of community representation in prosecutors’ offices. Although White prosecutors do not necessarily make more punitive decisions than minority prosecutors, I still believe that a more balanced prosecutorial corpus will lead to more equitable outcomes in the long term. — Joseph Avery, Jim Sidanius, Joel Cooper, Gregory Davis, Amanda N., Bias in the Law, 615
