Hindutva’s founding architect praised Nazi racial purity as a model for India
Evidence
In 1939, Golwalkar, second supremo of the Sangh and its real architect, found an appropriate model to look up to: … To keep up the purity of the nation and its culture, Germany shocked the world by her purging the country of the semitic races … Race pride at its highest has been manifested here … all the constituents of the Nation idea have been boldly vindicated in modern Germany and that, too, in the actual present, when we can for ourselves see and study them … a good lesson for us in Hindustan to learn and profit by … The Nazi lesson for India was “they (non-Hindus) may stay in the country wholly subordinated to the Hindu nation, claiming nothing, deserving no privileges … not even citizen’s rights.” (Golwalkar 1939, 76-93) The Sangh has very recently expunged this segment from a text that otherwise remains canonical. — Nadim N.
