Hilferding defined organized capitalism as state-steered planned production
Evidence
Galbraith coined the term technostructure to denote the de facto merger of US government departments and corporations whose interchangeable band of professional managers, marketers, analysts, financiers and engineers stood out as a class quite distinct from capitalists and workers. While Galbraith’s technostructure never threatened to undermine capitalism (indeed, it did the opposite - see Chapter 2), there are clear trajectories leading from it to our technofeudal order half a century later (see Chapters 3 and 4). — Yanis Varoufakis, Technofeudalism, 902 (

In Habermas’s eyes, two tendencies were decisive for advanced capitalism: the growth of interventionist activity by the state in order to shore up a social system which tended to correspond less and less to the ideology of free and fair exchange, and which was plagued with crises; and the development of science and technology to become the primary productive force. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 676 (

What perhaps distinguished it most strongly from earlier capitalist phases, Pollock argued, was its subordination of individual or group profits to the needs of the general plan. Social relations consisted no longer of the interaction of employer and employee, or producer and consumer through the mediation of the market. Instead, individuals confronted one another as commander and commanded. Although not completely lost, “the profit motive,” Pollock argued, had been “superseded by the power motive.” 50 One reflection of this, he continued in a way reminiscent of James Burnham, was the loss of control by stockholders over management. The traditional capitalists were becoming little more than rentiers living off diminished profits. — Martin Jay, The Dialectical Imagination, 485 (
