Harvard’s scholarly publications celebrate the photographer over the enslaved subjects
Evidence
This was the book that Manisha Sinha told me about the day I went to hear her speak. It was also the “project” Ilisa Barbash said she was working on—so I was not surprised to see that both she and Molly Rogers were listed on the cover as editors, along with Deborah Willis. For me, the fact that Zealy was mentioned more than those he photographed against their will that day was another example of how Harvard celebrates the wrongdoer and marginalizes my enslaved ancestors and the others. — Tamara Lanier, From These Roots, 1238
