Harmonics cease being resolved when their spacing falls below the ERB
Evidence
In the spectrogram of the third sound, in which only the odd harmonics up to the nineteenth are present, there are approximately seven resolved horizontal energy bands, but in this case these are the lowest seven odd harmonics, or the first to the thirteenth harmonics inclusive. The point at which the odd harmonics cease to be resolved occurs where the spacing between them (2 f0βthe spacing between the odd harmonics) is less than the ERB. β David M.
