Habermas’s 1968 essay supplied student radicals their slogan that science serves as ideology.
Evidence
Technology and Science suggested a method of analysing the coherence of the society in which positivism first arose and took on an ideological function. From this, the book drew conclusions about how to clarify the conditions that would be necessary to revolutionize late-capitalist societies. It was from this work that the students immediately drew the slogan about technology and science being the primary productive force. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 2679
