Gun-carrying laws in parks make families and schools withdraw from public spaces
Evidence
In a community that lifted the gun-carrying ban, the president of a group of nature park patrons called this action putting “guns over children.” Many families plan to avoid public recreational areas, fearing for their safety. A school will not schedule athletic contests and events in parks where concealed firearms are allowed. In response an NRA spokesperson said the law can be improved by having parks post gun-free times when school events are being held. — Albert Bandura, Moral Disengagement, 1185
