Group-level identity findings cannot be assumed to hold for individuals.
Evidence
In order to avoid aggregation bias, which can lead to the false conclusion that what is true for the group must be true for the individual, we only included studies that measured both dependent and independent variables at the individual level. Studies on supra-individual level, for example on the sup posed (but not individually assessed) identity crisis of a specific tribe and its effect on violent riots (also not individually assessed) in a country, were not included in this review. — Lea Echelmeyer, Anne-Marie Slotboom, and Frank Weerman, The Putative Effect of Identity on…, 35
