Forced dispersal of Granada’s Moriscos failed to produce assimilation.

Evidence

The policy of scattering the dangerous (as they were seen) inhabitants of the Kingdom of Granada over other parts of inland Spain was intended to facilitate assimilation. Scattering did not, however, have the desired effect, and it sometimes, as we will see, alienated the hitherto inert Castilian ex-Mudejars. — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 1113
