First messages reveal which topics group members believe will interest their community

Evidence

In the current study, only the first message that had content that could be coded was examined. The rationale for examining the first message of each thread was that it likely reflects what Stormfront members think will be of interest to the group. This methodology also ensured relative independence of cases as only one message was coded from each thread. — Roderick M. Kramer, Geoffrey J. Leonardelli, Robert W.
