Faith-based organizations now fund family planning as abortion prevention
Evidence
The summit received pledges of billions of dollars along with social and political support to rejuvenate family planning services worldwide. Diverse faith-based organizations at the summit added their commitment to such services as well. Richard Cizik, the president of the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good, explained his group’s basis of the support as follows: “Family planning is morally laudable in Christian terms because of its contribution to family well-being, women and children’s health, and the prevention of abortion” (Olson, 2012). This large-scale global effort may help to break the stranglehold of the population taboo. — Albert Bandura, Moral Disengagement, 2608
