Even at Yale Moses publicly defied authority when threatened over fundraising.
Evidence
With Moses organizing its fund drives, the association proved to be more vigorous than Camp had expected. When he realized the extent of its fund-raising efforts among alumni, traditional fountainhead of football funds, Moses was called in by Dean Wright and advised to be “calm and dignified.” Any “undue pressure” on alumni, he was warned, would result in the withdrawal of the $300 offer. Moses promptly made the threat public in the Courant and announced that the fund-raising would continue. — Robert A. Caro, The Power Broker, 189
