Evangelical alarmist books recycled anti-immigrant rhetoric against American Muslims
Evidence
Huntington’s and Lewis’s theories circulated widely within Christian Evangelical circles. Robert Morey’s influential 1992 book, The Islamic Invasion, rang a false alarm that the presence of millions of Muslims in America was part of a planned invasion. Harking back to the anti-Chinese, anti-Semitic, and anti-Catholic rhetoric of the early twentieth century, Morey condemned Muslims as inassimilable, uncivilized, and a fifth column. — Sahar F.
