Ellie Reichlin discovered the Agassiz daguerreotypes at the Peabody in summer 1976.

Evidence

I opened it and saw that it was from a Dr. Seymour Reichlin in Green Valley, Arizona. I recognized that name immediately. In all my research about the daguerreotypes, the name Ellie Reichlin was mentioned only once or twice as the Peabody employee who had discovered the daguerreotypes at the museum in the summer of 1976. I found it odd that in every other piece I’d read, she was only ever referred to as β€œthe Harvard associate,” so much so that I’d been looking for any reference of her name ever since. β€” Tamara Lanier, From These Roots, 703
