Electroacoustic reverberation enhancement systems can invisibly reshape hall acoustics per performance.
Evidence
Of all the attempts to persuasively enhance the spatial illusions of stereo, one that I found very attractive was a byproduct of the Lexicon Acoustic Reverberation Enhancement System, LARES (Griesinger, 1991). This was an electroacoustic system of microphones and loudspeakers installed in performance spaces, all managed by a sophisticated digital processor. It allowed the reverberation characteristics of large auditoria and concert halls to be modified to be appropriate for different kinds of performances. Such systems have been very successful, and audiences are generally not aware of the invisible manipulations. β Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics andβ¦, 866
