Eight investigations exonerated climate scientists of fraud allegations
Evidence
The British government commissioned eight independent investigations, some of which addressed the scientific conduct of particular climate scientists. An external Science Assessment Panel summarized the main findings (House of Commons, 2011). The investigations found no evidence of fraud or scientific misconduct. However, the external reviewers rebuked the scientists for sometimes being reluctant to share data and for a lack of transparency. The reviewers also noted the need for some changes in how the scientists reviewed the evidence. The investigations reaffirmed that the huge body of converging evidence from diverse scientific fields showed that human activity is driving up the earth’s temperature (Gillis, 2010). — Albert Bandura, Moral Disengagement, 2738
