Egal misappropriated Somali public funds for private use

Evidence

Hussen knew of a check cashed in Egal’s name in Aden (Yemen) in 1963 that General Hersi reported. In addition, it was already known that Egal took over 300,000 shillings from the Somali Central Bank shortly after he became prime minister. Ali Said Arraleh, the longserving director general of several ministries told me that one of Egal’s weaknesses was his use of public money as private cash. — Abdi Ismail Samatar, Africa’s First Democrats, 1486
