Early Christians believed Muslim rejection of sacraments was demonically motivated

Evidence

Lest there should be any doubt about the demons’ alliance with the Saracens, Anastasius tells of a certain John of Bostra who interrogated demonically possessed girls in Antioch. The demons told him (through the mouths of the girls) that the three things they feared most were the cross, baptismal water, and the Eucharist; that, they continued, is why they preferred the religion of their ā€œcompanions,ā€ the Saracens, who rejected all three. — John V. Tolan, Saracens, 303
