Ear simulator corrections depend on the headphone’s own acoustic load

Evidence

A simple correction that translates measurements from Type 3.3 to Type 4.3 is complicated by the fact that the acoustic input impedances of the ear 504. simulators are different over much of their frequency range. This means that the differences in frequency response will vary depending on the acoustic load of the headphone and how it interacts with the acoustic impedance of the ear simulator (Mansilla, 2020; Johansen et al., 2024). Since IE headphones generally have higher acoustic output impedances their frequency response will be most affected by the acoustic input impedance of the ear simulator. — Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics and…, 1816
