Ear protection alone does not fully prevent cumulative hearing damage
Evidence
All this happened in spite of the fact that I have been very careful about wearing ear protection, starting in the 1970s. The hard-shell ear defender with liquid-filled cushions had been invented by two of my NRCC colleagues. They provided persuasive arguments about hearing protection. I wore these devices faithfully while mowing grass, operating power tools in my wood shop, and the like. β Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics andβ¦, 1883
