Driscoll framed feminism as Adam’s original sin that emasculated all men
Evidence
For Driscoll, the problem went all the way back to the biblical Adam, a man who plunged humanity headlong into “hell/feminism” by listening to his wife, “who thought Satan was a good theologian.” Failing to exercise “his delegated authority as king of the planet,” Adam was cursed, and “every man since has been pussified.” The result was a nation of men raised “by bitter penis envying burned feministed single mothers who make sure that Johnny grows up to be a very nice woman who sits down to pee.” Women served certain purposes, and not others. In one of his more infamous missives, Driscoll talked of God creating women to serve as penis “homes” for lonely penises. — Kristin Kobes Du Mez, Jesus and John Wayne, 441
Categorization
- DEFINE: Shows how militant masculinity re-reads scripture itself — the Fall reframed as a feminization story, making gender hierarchy a cosmic/theological issue rather than a social one.
- DEEPTHINKING: This is the heart of Du Mez’s argument made concrete: not that misogyny accompanies the theology, but that the theology is constructed around misogyny as its organizing principle — the Fall itself becomes the story of male authority surrendered to women.
