Distortion-component OAEs probe the f2 cochlear site free of fine-structure interference

Evidence

Using a sufficiently sharp least squared fit filter (here ca. 2.2 Hz), the distortion component (DCOAE) can be extracted from the DPOAE recording (Long et al. 2008 ). The DCOAE is generated around the characteristic site of f2 and thus predominantly provides information about the f2 site without being influenced by DPOAE fine structure that is known to affect I/O functions unwantedly (Mauermann and Kollmeier 2004 ). — Dijk, Pim van, Physiology, Psychoacoustics and…, 5883
