Digital immediacy emerged from an obfuscated mediation, not a resolved crisis
Evidence
After the digital, we remain in the same historical phase of the accumulation crisis that defines postmodernism, but, through the severity and duration of secular stagnation, we take up a different relation to the very media of which that style might be composed: an obfuscation of mediation. Immediatized circulation has not delivered a resolution to the long-term crisis over the last fifty years, but neither has the law of the falling rate of profit delivered a social revolution. What has been delivered, instead, is immediacy as cultural style: demediation, immanentization, flow. — Anna Kornbluh, Immediacy, or The Style of Too Late…, 77
