Diffuse reverberant fields let power in the field be equated to sound pressure level

Evidence

The reverberant field is, in most cases, diffuse, and therefore visits all parts of the room with equal probability. Also at any point, and at any instant, we hear the total power in the reverberant field, as discussed earlier. Because of this it is possible to equate the power in the reverberant field to the sound pressure level. — David Howard, Jamie Angus, coustics and Psychoacoustics, 1825
