Detained women improvise food preservation and cooking from scraps
Evidence
The women held at MDC were just as resourceful, especially again with food. They would collect all the leftover food and find ways to preserve it: jerk the meat, collect the vegetables and store them. When they were given plain pasta for dinner one night, some of the Asian inmates took over, reaching for the old vegetables, chopping them up, and mixing them with the pasta for dinner. — Moustafa Bayoumi, How Does It Feel to Be a Problem?
